"Hungry Fish had me hooked...a fantastic math game" - The iPhone Mom

Feed your fish and play with numbers! Practice mental addition and subtraction with Motion Math: Hungry Fish, a delightful learning game thats fun for children and grownups.

(Hey Teachers! You can get all the levels of this game, plus student progress data, by signing up for an account at motionmathgames.com.)

Your fish is hungry for numbers. You can make delicious sums by pinching two numbers together – instant addition! Keep feeding your fish to win a level and unlock new colors and fins.

"Our students were enthralled by this simple, yet brilliant game – polishing up on their number skills with smiles on their faces!" - Teachers with Apps

The app includes 18 addition levels, with In-App purchase for another addition level and two subtraction and negative levels. (You can also get all levels with the app Motion Math: Hungry Fish Pro.) Hungry Fish features an intuitive way to visualize addition: the bringing together of two objects. Most math worksheets and math games ask "3 + 4 = ?" This cool math game instead challenges players to find, for example, the many different ways to create a sum of 7.

Pros and cons of Motion Math: Hungry Fish app for iPhone and iPad

Motion Math: Hungry Fish app good for

Awesome game for improving basic math skills! As a teacher, I intend to recommend to my students parents. Too bad it doesnt work in iPod.
Great combo of math practice and fun! Kids love changing the fish and I like that they keep at drills.
Hungry Fish is an awesome game, but you should be able to decorate your fish whenever, and you should be able to buy decorations for your tank. Maybe you could get so much money after each game depending on your level and speed.
My son loves this game but would rather decorate his fish in more colour than different fins. He stopped playing the game completely when I upgraded and the fish started to eat each other. That was a bit too violent for a 4 year old. Instructions should show the bubbles should be combined together to form a new bubble. It shows them touching which was confusing a first. Prizes to decorate their tank or dress the fish up funny would be great for kids to give them something to work at.
If the child using this is an average math student with good fine motor skills, it is a great app for honing quick response to basic math. I use it for special needs students whose fine motor skills and response time isnt as good. I really like the game and I like that it can be slowed down or made faster. For a special needs student tho, it would be great to have a simple addition or subtraction level where the bubbles never disappear so the student has as much time to catch up as they need. Even at the slowest speed, some of mine need more time and dont understand why the bubbles disappear. Because they feel pressure to go fast, they start joining bubbles together that add up to much too high a number for the fish to eat. So, great game, Id love a separate version that just allows a student to add or subtract at their own speed with no pressure for time. After all, its the math skill that counts and not all students were created for this version. Thanks.
This app is the best. You can get upgrades and super cool stuff for your fish.

Some bad moments

Looks like a cute app, but the demo continually crashes after the intro level so we cant actually tell how useful it is. Too bad.
Have not even seen what it looks like. Crashed as soon as I open it
My son was enjoying the intro and I was thinking of purchasing it until the fish disappeared and it kept happening.
My daughter played the paid game for 5 mins before it tried to up sell for additional levels.
Favorite math game ever but now every time I almost beat red cave subtraction it takes me back OUT of the game please fix that.
My 5 yr old loves it, gets all excited about the fish getting bigger, and freaks out when she puts 2 numbers together and its wrong.
